Foam Sword Fighting

There are many kinds of foam swords to fight with.

Nerf Swords:

Banzai Samurai Dueling Sticks:

Misc. Costume swords:

You can get some online

and even some other homemade/ LARP weapons

Normally anyone older then 12 years old wouldn't really think anything of these swords unless they LARP (which I don't) But yesterday I decided while browsing through Toys R Us with my friends (for shits and giggles) I ran across the exact Banzai Samurai Dueling Sticks in the picture above and decided to purchase them. There was also a wide variety of nerf weaponry. Me and my friends today had a great time fighting each other with them. Since I only had 2 we rotated in and out with the loser of each match. We set up our own rules for our new game too.

Rules:
1. 2 shots to arms or legs and you lose or 1 shot to the body/neck
2. Head shots don't count unless the rounds judge says otherwise
3. Whoever is not fighting that round is a judge
4. To start round you touch swords then take 2 steps back before you can engage (to cut out the cheap shots)
5. Sudden death results in a joust where first shot wins
6. Score is kept in kill streaks not kills. For example if I beat 2 people then died. But then next time I went up I beat 3 people in a row. My score is 3 not 5.
7. The first 2 people to reach 7 points have a 3 round duel to decide overall winner

It was a lot of fun. While a round was going on however me and my friend Alex had a conversation about what we were doing. He said it was very similar to LARPing (which we both think is kind of lame) but I disagreed. What we are doing is in no way role playing. We do not have characters, don't dress up or really do anything that LARPing is. I think it is just a couple of guys having fun by beating the crap out of each other with foam swords. We plan on buying more misc. foam weapons and having tournaments in my backyard. I highly recommend trying this because it is a lot of fun.

So what is your opinion on this?
Have you ever fought with nerf guns or swords?
Do you think it is like LARPing?
Any ideas of other games / rules for our fighting?

It's taking me forever to type these.
